This is a big week for Rookie QB Kenny Pickett who Mike Tomlin named the starting QB earlier this week. Pickett is looking snap the Steelers three game losing streak on the road in Buffalo. This is also a big week for the Steelers Special Teams it going to be a windy day Sunday with 15-20 MPH SWS winds.
The Steelers have been struggling this season on both sides of the ball. But this could be a rebound game for this team against the Jets. The Jets are coming in with 2nd year QB Zach Wilson getting the start after not playing since early August.
The Steelers have made a change to the depth chart with naming Montravius Adams the starting Nose Tackle. The Steelers are looking to get their pass rush going with Malik Reed and Alex Highsmith.
It was a nail-biting win for the Steelers in overtime last week. This offense looks to show the league what they can do this week against the Patriots. This is the first game between these two teams without Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger.
The Steelers Defense looks to continue the dominant play they showed last week even with the loss of TJ Watt. Malik Reed will look to fill in for TJ the best he can while he’s out.
For the first time in eighteen seasons the steelers are taking on the defending AFC North Campions without Ben Roethlisberger on the Roster. The Bengals are coming off of a super bowl season.
Joe Burrow and the Bengals are looking to repeat. But this retooled Steelers team is looking to show them why they are still the King of the North, and why the North runs though Pittsburgh.
TJ Watt and the boys are looking to show Joe Burrow just how physical this game is, and always will be.
The Steelers have finished filling out their Practice Squad Monday. The squad is divided up by seven Offensive players and 9 defensive players. Among the players are some guys that have starting experience like John Legule (OL), Mark Gilbert (CB), and Anthony McFarland (RB).
This squad could change be the team leaves for Cincinnati Saturday, but as of this morning this is the squad.
The Steelers are 2-0 so far in the preseason. Even though they have been winning they still have been struggling at a few positions. Three big ones that stand out are Left Guard, Inside Linebacker, and Outside Linebacker depth.
Left Guard is the biggest need for the team right now. Kevin Dotson and Kendrick Green have not been living up to their expectations. We do have John LeGlue who has been a good player when needed, but he isn’t a proven starter.
Myles Jack is looking to be one of the star free agent finds for former GM Kevin Cobert. But behind him the others are not living up to the standard. Rookie LB Mark Robinson is showing flashes, but he is still learning the position since this is his second season as Linebacker.
The depth at Outside Lineback has improved from the Seahawks game, but there is still work that needs to be done either in practice with James Vaughters and Ron’Dell Carter. Or is it time to turn to the free agent pool to see if we can bring a proven player in.
With the Steelers Regular season starting in a few weeks. I thought it would be good to take a look at are upcoming Unrestricted Free Agents.
Right now, we have Nineteen players that will be unrestricted free agents. Among them are Terrell Edmonds, Cameron Sutton, Chris Wormley, Zach Gentry, and Derek Watt.
