Youngstown State 2023 NFL Draft Prospects

by James Layton

Youngstown State has produced a number of NFL players over the years. In the past five years three Penguins have been drafted. The highest one draft was Derek Rivers who was the Patriots first draft pick in 2017.

Even with the effects COVID had on the FCS and small school players, the Penguins still found a to produce NFL talent. The Colts drafted former YSU TE Andrew Ogletree in the 6th Round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

For this season two of my favorite players to watch are DE James Jackson and WR Bryce Oliver.

Let’s get into their prospects.

Seniors

  • 8 Jaleel McLaughlin, RB
  • 19 Colt McFadden, K
  • 8 James Jackson, DE
  • 1 Quincy Lenton, DB
  • 76 Mike McAllister, C

Underclassmen

  • 0 Bryce Oliver, WR Junior
  • 2 C.J. Charleston, WR Sophomore
  • 48 Griffin Hoak, LB Junior
  • 9 Chris Fitzgerald, DT Sophomore
  • 55 Ryan Johnson, G Junior
